At the end of a long hard day, especially one where we had been out shopping for groceries, clothing or whatever, the only thing that sounds good is the comment – “Gee, I cannot wait to get home, plop in our chairs, put our feet up, and chill out!

Fortunately at our age, as long as we keep our house properly maintained, the bed made when not in it, no dishes in the sink, trash where it should be, and well – how does that old saying go – “a place for everything and everything in its place,” why shouldn’t we look forward to plopping down in front of the television to relax after a, shall we say, “good day!”

My original thoughts were to write something in relation to the old Alka Seltzer commercial – Plop Plop Fizz Fizz, or perhaps something related to a frog plopping in a pond, but my fellow bloggers beat me to the punch.

All of us have our own routines when it comes to our daily or possibly weekly writing habits. Mine is a routine that finds me writing when I get a few minutes during our busy days. The actual posts are usually prepared either in the evening after the house is quiet or early in the morning before we start our busy days. Take this post for instance, while it isn’t the type of post I usually write (and haven’t in some time now) it is my feeble attempt to write about today’s word prompt, plop.

I am finding however that even though neither of us are members of the workforce anymore, living the lifestyle to the fullest, day in and day out, plopping in our easy chairs at the end of an active day is quite the reward.

Until next time!

About iglengel

Welcome to my blog: I retired in September of 1996 after twenty-five years as an Underwriting Manager (and one year with a smaller insurance company) and have written blog postings on the website prior to setting up this Word Press free site. Having retired almost twenty years ago I have experienced my own retirement transition. I survived and you will too. Oddly enough, now that I have more time, I am discovering various things about myself that I would not have imagined myself doing in retirement. Why does it take so long for, we as individuals, to stop and think about ME!? Join me as I share with you some of the shenanigans we have been up to since retiring. Retirement is and can be a whole lot of fun. Welcome to my site – remember – retirement is not the destination we are seeking – it is the journey! I encourage you to visit often, provide comments, ask questions and add your own insights. We are all on this journey together.

Newly out of the workplace ourselves. I blog, but Hubby hasn’t figured it out yet.

Thanks for your comment. I do feel as though I must clarify one minor misconception and it has to do with retirement….we will be retired 20 years come December. Loving it and wondering how we had time to work.

  2. So true, plopping on a comfy chair is the end all be all! Love it.

  3. Thanks for this. I’ll have to plop in an easy chair at the end of my day today. Nice day to you.
